Series: Bosom “Bosom” was inspired by the need to address insecurities among women with regard to their smaller breast sizes. It acts as a voice for Indian women by normalising acceptance and beautifying different body types. Diverse body physiques are shown off in the light of positivity and self-love uniting women of varied skin complexions in India and how these insecurities stemming from unrealistic expectations set by toxic patriarchal culture are affecting millions of young Indian women. Society is fuelled by unrealistic beauty standards professed by accessibility to digital and print content that have rooted the belief that if bosoms are not more prominent in size, they are strange and undesirable. As illustrated by the series, there are 27 types of female breasts, and imposing a single beauty standard may harm the perceptions of millions of women with unique shapes and sizes. The series shows women of variant skin complexions with diverse body types showing off as they immerse themselves in a pool of positivity. As much as it educates about different kinds of bosoms, it also conveys a message on how society fails to communicate the same with young Indian women which induces a belief that they may be the only ones with a unique breast appearance. The series encourages women to be confident with their appearance and take joy in being different from others. It shows women as strong characters who disregard society’s notions and live their life-loving themselves as they are. The artworks show modest-sized breasts from different angles to show their beauty from a different perspective. They are luscious, desirable and attractive contrary to what the world around a woman makes her believe. The series breaks the barrier set by society in front of a woman’s eyes so she can see just how beautiful and unique she is so she can revel in self-love and acceptance.
